017 - Golden Gate Wingmen

We've got a special and unusual episode for you this time around. I had the great fortune to join my good friend and head of Osiris, RJ Bee, at a Golden Gate Wingmen show late last month. The show, at The Hamilton Live, was the kick-off for a short tour and it was a blast. To make things even more exciting, we got to meet and interview the band. Jeff Chimenti (keys, vocals), John Kadlecik (guitar, vocals), Jay Lane (drums, vocals), and Reed Mathis (bass, vocals) were friendly, forthcoming, and entertaining. 

You'll hear our interview with the band and about an hour's worth of tunes from the show in this episode. Thanks to RJ Bee for making the interview happen. Thanks also to DC Music Review for allowing me to share a couple of Jason Herman's beautiful photos from the night. The show that night was terrific. The song selection and deep, creative jams were exactly what I want from a gig these days. The songs may not be originals but Golden Gate Wingmen aren't recreating or rehashing anything. These guys get out there on a limb and manage to swing back with grace.

016 - Bobby Songs Set 2

Here we go with set two of our look at Bobby songs and his collaboration with the late John Perry Barlow. RJ Bee returns with more music and discussion to follow episode 15's great first set. Hopefully we can live up to that standard with this episode. RJ is the founder of the Helping Friendly Podcast as well as the Osiris Podcast Network and an all around great guy so please take a minute or two to check those sites out.

015 - Bobby Songs

We begin the Spring thaw with a visit from my good friend and the founder of both the Helping Friendly Podcast and the Osiris Podcast Network, RJ Bee. RJ wanted to talk about Bobby songs so that's just what we'll do. We also, spend a fair amount of time discussing the work of the late John Perry Barlow. Barlow's writing for the Grateful Dead along with his advocacy for an open internet via the Electronic Frontier Foundation are both keys to the very existence of this podcast. He will be missed and forever held in the utmost esteem.

As of late February, the Brokedown Podcast became a charter member of the Osiris Podcast Network. Osiris is a growing community of music and culture podcasts, connecting music fans with conversation, commentary and music. Osiris works in partnership with Relix, check them out for music news and information.
