Hello, Dead Freaks! We're back with an in depth conversation with Matt Valentine, guitar player and one half of the heavy vibe duo that is Wet Tuna. Matt's been cooking up serious soundwaves for some time and we dip into the story of who he is and what he's after in our chat. 024 - Tom Constanten & Prana Crafter

Folks, we have a packed episode for you this go-round. First up, you'll hear a brief chat that I was privileged to have with Grateful Dead keyboardist, Tom Constanten. Tom is currently in the group Live Dead '69 who are embarking on a short East Coast tour to mark the Days Between. In addition to T.C., the band features Mark Karan, Robin Sylvester, Slick Aguilar, and Michal Falzarano. They're billing it as Live Dead & Riders '69 this time as they'll be including a New Riders set at the beginning of each show! This looks to be a blast so have a look at the tour dates below. If they're anywhere near you, be sure to check them out. I'll be at the D.C. show on 8/2.

It's July, the Summer heat is here to stay and there's no better time to be on the road. In this episode, we head out on the road to check in with Dead & Company and Phil Lesh. Both bands are doing some great things on stages all over the place so I've pulled a couple great jams to either cool down or heat up your listening space. These jams can do both. After that, we reach into the vault for some good old Grateful Dead.

Hey there, Dead Freaks! This go-round I fill you in on how things went down when Osiris went to DelFest and have a great conversation with Phil Cook. Then, of course, we get into some Grateful Dead.

Phil shares details on his new album, People Are My Drug, and his band, The Guitarheels. We also talk about his work with Hiss Golden Messenger and covering the Grateful Dead. As for the Grateful Dead music in this episode, the show was released as Dave's Pick's 20 but, we're listening to a fine Jim Wise audience recording. So yeah, you may have heard this stuff before but, have you heard it like this? Time to find out.

As before, Jeff has selected a few more great tracks from the Grateful Dead's many visits to Oregon. We listen to and discuss those along with some other great stuff including the magic of audience tapes, and the fabulously deep catalog of fellow traveler Matt Valentine.

Listeners and Dead Freaks, this episode features a terrific chat with WFMU host, Deadhead, and encyclopedia on far-out music of all kinds, Jeff Conklin. Jeff's show on WFMU is The Avant Ghetto and there he spins all manner of psychedelic and experimental tunes including some terrific selections by our beloved Grateful Dead. We talk about his development as a Deadhead and then dug into studying the vast riches resulting from the Dead's many visits to the great state of Oregon.
