I'm back with a chat with the great Melvin Seals, longtime member of the Jerry Garcia Band and leader of Melvin Seals & JGB (https://www.melvinsealsandjgb.com/). We discuss his background, joining and touring with the Jerry Garcia Band, and JGB over the years. After the interview, I share some recent JGB tracks that are sure to get you moving.

Melvin Seals and JGB are about to embark on a lengthy East Coast tour with the always excellent John Kadlecik on guitar and vocals. Then, in early April they'll be one of many great bands on the bill at the Skull & Roses Festival in Ventura, California. Details on all of the tourdates can be found on their website. 037 - Winter Tour '79 pt. 2

Welcome back, Dead Freaks!

In this episode we return to finish our look at the final shows of Keith and Donna. Winter '79 featured some good music but spotty coverage in the form of soundboard tapes. Fortunately, some of the audience recordings hold up and we even feature one such tape in the show. We've got some first set rockers and second set jammers on the decks.

Before we get down with that, we take a few minutes to celebrate the life and voice of Jerry Garcia Band vocalist, Gloria Jones, who passed last week. Joining Jerry's side band in Fall of 1984, she sang with him and for us until Jerry passed. She then carried on with Melvin and Jackie in JGB. Gloria will be missed and fondly remembered forever.

Because it's a final blow-out before I close out that shop and move on to the next phase of BrokedownPod merch. What's next, you ask? Who can say? Greetings, Dead Freaks! This episode features an interview with singer/songwriter Steven Graves. In this episode, we celebrate the 25th anniversary of the final Jerry Garcia Band East Coast Tour. In Fall of '93, the JGB played a mess of dates back East (as they say) and a whole lot of fun was had. Our guest, Lenny Stubbe was there in Buffalo (11/5/93) and reports his recollections and overall impressions of the tour. Your host attended a couple of these as well.
