Getting Heavy with Jeffrey Alexander

Greetings, Dead Freaks!

Back again with Jeffrey Alexander to talk about all the recent and upcoming Heavy Lidders activity along with my recap from Deep In The Valley fest. There's also a killer mix of tunes waiting for you after the interview so dig on in and enjoy!

You can keep track of all things Jeffrey Alexander at his aptly named website (remember websites?) JeffreyAlexanderLovesYou.com. His bandcamp page is here. And while you’re over there, be sure to follow Centripedal Force where you will be able to get the Spacious Minds LPs and Arrowhawk Records who still has some of the Spacious Minds tapes. And definitely do not forget to check out the Planet Lidder’s tape from Worried Songs.

Another hearty thanks goes out to Raven Sings The Blues for a wonderful weekend. Deep In The Valley is an expertly curated fest and, coupled with the good fortune of perfect weather, one could not ask for a better event. Be sure to head over to Raven Sings The Blues for insightful coverage of excellent music and follow the social media to keep up with what’s what.

My latest album, "So Below" remains available via streaming as well as (preferably) from my Bandcamp page: JMHart.bandcamp.com. If you would like a BrokedownPod t-shirt or sticker or other merch in that vein, please head over to my Redbubble virtual merch table. All proceeds go straight toward hosting costs and are much appreciated.

rootless

Greetings, Dead Freaks!

It's 2023 and we're still truckin'. This time my guest is Jeremy Hurewitz who is better known by the name under which he releases his beautiful music, "rootless". rootless music is centered on Hurewitz's guitar but contains a wide array of collaborations and sounds. We get into the varying nature of the rootless albums, the music that inspires and influences Hurewitz and so much more in our chat. Also in this episode, I pay tribute two great artists who recently passed, David Crosby and Tom Verlaine.

The most recent rootless release is entitled "What The Truth Leaves Out" and is available on cassette via Feeding Tube Records (FeedingTubeRecords.com). You can also find that and many more releases digitally at rootless.bandcamp.com.

As mentioned in my tribute to the late Tom Verlaine, here is a link to Patti Smith's remembrance of her friend as published by the New Yorker. "He Was Tom Verlaine"
